Chevrolet Corvette Central Engine Ready to Roll in January 2018

A sports car is usually identical to the engine placed in the middle. It also seems to be done by Chevrolet by presenting a variant of the middle-engined Corvette. According to a report from Automotive News, the mid-engined Corvette will make its debut in January 2018. The car has also been through a pilot stage conducted simultaneously with the front-engined Corvette ZR1 on several occasions over the past year. The first test prototype itself has been seen since 2015.

General Motors also hopes to launch the mid-engined Corvette at the Detroit Auto Show which will open on January 14, 2018, to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the Corvette. However, some media in the United States also claim that the car looks new will be able to pave in early 2019.

So far, indeed there is no certain information given by GM on the specifications of this mid-engined Corvette. However, the possibility of a mid-engined Corvette will come with a 4.0 L V8 engine and is equipped with dual clutch transmission, as well as the C8-engined car will also have a shorter wheelbase compared to the front engine variants.

Speaking in terms of design, this car will have a shorter top and the center of the width and the back will have a longer dimension to accommodate engine room located at the rear of the driver.

Apparently, Chevrolet will seriously work on this mid-engined Corvette, this is evidenced by them taking on experienced people from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren. In terms of price, Corvette mid-engine is predicted to be more expensive when compared with the front-engined Corvette with all additional optional. If, the front-engined dibandrol below $ 100,000 then the mid-engined Corvette is predicted to be sold at a price of $ 150,000.

Currently, the Corvette comes with their seventh generation available in Coupe and Convertible form. The current Corvette has a 6.2 L V8 Supercharged engine specification that generates maximum power up to 650 hp and produces torque of 650 Nm. The current Corvette comes with a choice of 7 speed manual transmission and 8 speed Auto with paddle shift. This car was exhibited at the 2016 Auto Expo in February of last year.
