BMW, VW, Mercedes-Benz & Opel Recall 2.5 Million Diesel Car Units In Germany
A few weeks ago, we had time to announce a number of recalls that had to come up due to some concerns from the German manufacturer of the government's stern action that threatened to ban diesel cars running on the streets of Germany if they did not meet the established requirements and regulations. As we know, when talking about diesel engines, then Volkswagen is one that quite heavily preached, especially after the dieselgate scandal that occurred.
However, this time VW will not be alone, because like the previous news, Mercedes Benz and Audi also seem to come to do the same steps by doing some recall on diesel-engined products their production. And in a recent official release, there are four German automotive brands that eventually deal with the government to conduct a voluntary recall campaign for their diesel cars that have been released into the German automotive market. The four brands are BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Opel.
The four brands themselves make this agreement in the National Diesel Forum event in which, the BMW also announced that it will provide incentives to the owners of Euro 4-standard diesel cars as much as 2,000 Euros or equivalent to 31.6 million Rupiah. This incentive is given to encourage the owners of Euro 4 diesel engines to trade-in their cars with new cars whose CO2 emissions reach 130g / km. In addition to the special incentives made by the BMW, the four brands themselves must make recall on 2.5 million units of their diesel vehicles that have the standard Euro 5 and Euro 6.
The number is certainly quite a lot, but with the same number, previously VW itself has done recall related dieselgate scandal. The recall campaign itself will give a number of updates to the software of each car according to the manufacturer, and will also reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 25 to 30% from the previous. This process itself can take place by carrying out a number of complex technical handling of the drain pipe and also the control of the machine, which has been technically researched and developed over the past few days.
The recall campaign itself, like the same program and applies to other components, is free alias free of charge at all. And the manufacturer of each - each also ensure that handling carried on the car owned by this consumer will not affect the performance of the engine, fuel keiritan or other internal performance. Well, with this agreement, at least the government will still be more tolerant of the use of diesel cars on the streets of Germany, and if Germany is firm, how in the country? Only time will answer.
